Aromatherapy Hand Care

Aromatherapy Hand CareAromatherapy hand care:

A soothing and luxurious way to pamper your hands while incorporating the therapeutic benefits of essential oils. The skin on our hands can easily become dry, especially in colder months or after frequent washing, so it’s important to keep them moisturised and nourished.

Hand Soak

A hand soak is a perfect way to start your hand care routine. It helps soften the skin, relax muscles, and prepare your hands for further treatments like exfoliation and moisturising.

Ingredients:

  • Warm water (enough to submerge both hands)
  • 1 tablespoon Epsom salts (for relaxation and detoxification)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (for hydration)
  • 3–5 drops essential oil (options below)

Essential Oil Suggestions:

  • Lavender: Calming and soothing, great for relaxing tired hands.
  • Rosemary: Stimulating and refreshing.
  • Geranium: Balances and nourishes the skin, while promoting relaxation.
  • Tea Tree: Antibacterial and cleansing, perfect for protecting your skin.

Instructions:

  1. Fill a bowl with warm water and add the Epsom salts, oil, and essential oils.
  2. Soak your hands for 10–15 minutes, letting the oils hydrate and soften your skin.
  3. Pat your hands dry gently with a soft towel.

Exfoliating Hand Scrub

Exfoliating your hands helps remove dead skin cells, leaving them smooth and revitalised. You can easily make an exfoliating hand scrub using natural ingredients and essential oils.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon sugar or sea salt (for exfoliation)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or sweet almond oil
  • 3–4 drops of essential oil (options below)

Essential Oil Suggestions:

  • Lemon: Brightening and rejuvenating, great for dull skin.
  • Frankincense: Promotes skin renewal and reduces fine lines or age spots.
  • Peppermint: Invigorating and cooling, perfect for a refreshing feel.

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the sugar or salt with the carrier oil and essential oil.
  2. Gently massage the scrub into your hands in circular motions, paying extra attention to rough areas like knuckles.
  3. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.

Cuticle Oil

Dry cuticles can be painful and unsightly, but an aromatherapy cuticle oil can keep them soft and healthy. It’s a simple, targeted treatment to nourish and protect your nails.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon jojoba oil (mimics skin’s natural oils)
  • 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil (promotes healing)
  • 3–4 drops of essential oil (options below)

Essential Oil Suggestions:

  • Tea Tree: Antifungal and protective for nails.
  • Myrrh: Known to strengthen nails and protect cuticles.
  • Lavender: Soothing and healing for dry, cracked skin.

Instructions:

  1. Combine the jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and essential oils in a small bottle.
  2. Use a dropper to apply a few drops of oil to each cuticle.
  3. Gently massage it into your cuticles and nails to keep them hydrated and healthy.
